To participate EHS Boys Water Polo athletes must adhere to a certain set of expectations.
Expectations:
Disciplinary Action:
Grades:
Tryouts:
You have read and agree to the tryout requirements and standards located on the general info page, and understand that you can be cut for not meeting the standards.
Signing the Contract:
You will be given a contract to sign acknowledging that you have read these expectations and agree to adhere to them.
Expectations:
- Each athlete is expected to follow a set of rules for the team. Failure to meet these expectations will lead to decreased playing time and eventual removal from the team.
- Every athlete is expected to be at every practice.
- With this expectation we do understand that life happens.
- Because we can only expect to be successful if the team chemistry is healthy: If you plan on missing practice you must let the team know ahead of time with a full explanation of why you will be gone after the next practice you find out you are not asking for permission. This will allow the team to have an understanding of your absence and how much you can be relied on.
- If you suddenly become sick or have something else not planned happen you must text in the Remind app and coach will relay this information to the rest of the team in the remind.
- Tardiness will not be accepted. An athlete is to be at practice, weights, or game on time. There are no exceptions to this rule.
- If these expectations are not followed the absence or tardiness will follow the disciplinary procedures outlined below this.
- Every athlete is expected to treat other athletes, referees, and other coaches with respect.
- Every athlete is expected to treat their own coaches with respect.
- Every athlete is expected to treat their teachers with the up-most respect as well. You are not only an athlete, but you are also a student and education comes first. If emailed about bad behavior the athlete will receive disciplinary action.
- Athletes on the Elsinore Water Polo team are representing their team, and school at all times.
- If any derogatory posts about the athlete’s team or coaches will lead to a disciplinary action.
- Any posts found that are seen as too obscene or offensive to the coaches will lead to possible removal from the team.
- Keep in mind everything you post online with your name tagged to it shows your true character to others. While representing yourself you will also be representing what our team is about. We cannot have athletes giving our team a bad reputation.
- These substances are not in any way tolerated.
- If found using one of these substances will result in disciplinary action and possible removal from the team.
Disciplinary Action:
- Not adhering to these expectations will result in decreased playing time which will be left up to the coaches discretion based on the violation.
- Discipline will follow a stair step model with punishments increasing each time starting with a one on one talk with athlete, next a call to parents, next practice/game suspension with parent contact, and lastly admin involvement and removal from the team. These are all made on a case by case and individual basis at the coaches discretions.
- Extreme violations of these expectations could result in the removal from the team at the coaches discretion and based on school and district policy.
Grades:
- If you are currently ineligible going into season and you have been ineligible in the past you will be automatically cut. There are no exceptions to this; grades come first.
- If you have been ineligible in the past, but are currently eligible, you will need to fill out weekly grade sheets. If your grades drop below a 2.5 you will be placed on probation (no games or lifting in 6th period).
- If you are ineligible currently, but have never been ineligible before you cannot play in any games and will not be allowed to lift in 6th period. You will also need to fill out weekly grade sheets. If your grades fall below a 2.5 you will be cut.
